Mark May (Baritone)

Born and raised in Findlay Ohio, Mark came from a musical family. His mother, Miriam played the ukulele, piano and organ and his older brother, Alan was a gifted guitar player. Growing up, Mark followed his interest in music. During his junior and senior high school years, he played guitar and sang in a local rock group. He also played drums in a country band. After getting married and the birth of his first child Andy, Mark and his young family began attending a local church. It was there Mark asked Christ into his heart and into his life. Mark then decided to use the musical gifts God gave him to glorify the kingdom by joining a contemporary Christian group, Proclaim. In 1984, Mark was blessed with another child, Kate. Years later, the disbanding of Proclaim led to the beginning of Sojourner Quartet in 1992. In 1998 Mark lost his son Andy in a tragic auto accident. Through this loss, Mark has been able to minister to other parents who have also lost children. Mark is the last founding member of Sojourner celebrating 25 years in 2017. He, along with his wife Denise, have three daughters, Kate, Catherine and Carolyn and 8 grandchildren.
