Larry Counterman (Bass)

It all began on June 19th, 1949 in Coldwater Michigan. Born in a Christian home, I had five brothers and two sisters, church is all we knew. When I was about twelve years old, a quartet, The Jubilee Quartet out of Michigan, came to our church, and I was hooked. At 13, I gave my heart to Jesus. My brothers, our pastor’s son, and myself formed a singing group, but we didn't have a name and we only sang in our church. We finally booked our first concert outside of the church, it was at an FFA banquet. At the time, none of us knew that would be our first and only real gig. I graduated in 1967 from Quincy High School in Quincy, Michigan and served in the U.S. Army from 69-71 at both Ft. Knox and Ft. Carson. In 1974, I started with my first group and have been singing ever since. Not long after that, in 1976, my life changed forever. I moved to Indiana and married the love of my life, Cindy Tyler. God has blessed us with five children, Julie, Terra, Greg, Amanda, and Michele, ten grandchildren, and a great grandson. I have been a farmer and a carpenter all my life. I also enjoy watching sports, hunting, and cooking, but my true passion has always been Southern Gospel music. Through the years, I have been honored to sing with some great groups and great people, all with priceless memories. In fall of 2010 I joined Sojourner Quartet. I’m still making memories and telling people about Jesus. Through all the years and countless miles.

I wouldn’t trade a mile I have traveled for the Lord.
